Road Transport Certifying Engineers

The Group began activities in January 2001 and has approximately 50 members. The object of the Group is the cooperative advancement, in knowledge and practice, of the science and engineering pertaining to the design and certification of road transport vehicles. Present activities of the Group concentrate on the development and application of design standards, rules and codes covering certifiable features of heavy motor vehicles such as chassis design, towing connections, load anchorages, brake systems, steering systems. The Group acts as a focus for discussions with the LTSA on behalf of Certifying Engineers.

Membership is scattered throughout the country and accordingly most communication between members is by email discussion. Information sheets are distributed on an approximately monthly basis or as needed to progress specific issues. Full membership requires that the member holds an LTSA Deed of Appointment as a Certifying Engineer.
