A new evaporator system is allowing Leiner Davis Gelatin in Christchurch to recover 100,000 litres of water daily for recycling, instead of pouring it down the drain. Water recycling is one of the waste management practices Leiner Davis has introduced under its own continuous quality improvement programme in conjunction with Target Zero. The 100,000 litres a day is about half the cooling water used and it is hoped that the other 50 percent of cooling water can also be recycled.

Whessoe Varec has released a free Windows-based valve sizing program which automates the calculation and selection process for above ground storage tank venting applications. It is designed to ensure that venting systems are correctly sized, and will speed the selection of pressure and vacuum relief valves, pilot-operated valves, regulators, and end-of-line or detonation flame arresters. Supplied on a CD-ROM for use with Windows 3.1 or higher, the menu-driven program is ideal for tank designers, installers and operators. Results are presented complete with pictorial and mechanical data, and all information necessary for ordering. Email sales@whessoevarec.com.
