What is "Engineering Change"?

Engineering Change is New Zealand's first humanitarian-engineering conference, incorporating a number of respected and experienced professionals in the fields of development and engineering.

Our vision is to increase awareness of the role of engineers in community development, and to build knowledge and capacity in humanitarian engineering.

Why should I attend?

• A chance to network with other like-minded students and professionals to build relationships and ideas to further the areas of humanitarian engineering.
• Develop your capability and knowledge through:
• Hearing about past experiences and current work in international development;
• Building an understanding of the fundamentals of humanitarian engineering; and

WhAT CAN I EXPECT?

The conference will incorporate a series of interactive, exciting and dynamic sessions that: 

• Engage participants - through presentations, participatory workshops, and discussions
• Encourage open communication between speakers and participants; and
• Build links across engineering and development.

The content of the conference will be arranged around three central themes:

• Sustainable Development
  Developing knowledge and skills in sustainable community development.
  
• Disaster Preparation and Relief
  Improving the way engineers manage natural disasters in the Pacific and globally.
  
• Engineering Practice
  Building knowledge of common practices and decision making tools in development projects.
